Organic Social Media Marketing Made Easy with the Power of AI – Barossa

From Chaos to Clarity: Using AI to Power Up Your Social Media Marketing (Without Losing Your Mind)

Thanks to everyone who joined me in the Barossa for our workshop on “Organic Social Media with the Power of AI”. If your brain was full by the end — don’t stress, that’s completely normal. The trick with AI isn’t to learn it all at once. It’s to pick one thing to start with and get a win under your belt. This post is your guided recap, complete with action steps, tools, and reminders to help you go from theory to impact.

Why We’re Here (And Why You Can’t Afford to Ignore AI)

Social media marketing today means carrying the mental load of 10 roles at the speed of constant change. AI isn’t a threat — it’s your thinking partner. When trained right, it gives you back clarity, structure, speed, and sanity. It doesn’t replace your creativity. It amplifies it.

The Must-Know AI Basics

🔍 LLMs (Large Language Models) are like the world’s best-read librarians — great at finding patterns and summarising.

🚂 GPTs (Generative Pre-Trained Transformers) are the trains running on those tracks — they generate content, ideas, and plans based on what you feed them.

🧠 Generative AI can produce words, pictures, videos, and even sound. It’s like hiring a very fast, slightly robotic intern who never sleeps.

📊 Predictive AI helps with analytics, forecasting, and spotting patterns in behaviour. Think of it as your data whisperer.

The Golden Rule: Train It Like You’d Train a Staff Member

Most of the time when AI gives you garbage, it’s because you trained it like a work experience kid instead of an expert consultant. Here’s how to do it properly:

  1. Give it a role — e.g. “You are a hospitality marketing expert who specialises in social media storytelling for wine tourism brands.”

  2. Upload the source material — past posts, brand voice docs, award entries, menus, etc.

  3. Slow it down — don’t ask it to write your caption straight away. Let it learn first.

  4. Be specific — brief it the way you’d brief a new hire.

  5. Feed it feedback — once it nails your tone, give it the final copy and tell it: “This is the gold standard.”

ACTION STEP:

✅ Export your best-performing social posts from the last 6–12 months.
✅ Upload them into ChatGPT and ask it to write a tone of voice guide.

Content Creation: The Triangle Test

Use this two-part framework to stop doom-scrolling and start creating with purpose.

Part 1: The Connection Triangle

Ask yourself — does this piece of content speak to:

🧠 The Head — does it inform or educate?
❤️ The Heart — does it emotionally connect?
💰 The Wallet — does it drive purchase?

If it doesn’t hit at least two, ditch or rework it.

Part 2: The Content Ratio Triangle

Flip the funnel:

  • 60% connection (staff, customers, behind the scenes, community)

  • 30% vibe (seasonal shots, moody pours, the feel of the region)

  • 10% sell (specials, promos, buy now)

If your feed looks like a product catalogue, this is your wake-up call.

ACTION STEP:

✅ Review your last 9 posts. Do you have a Captain America (face of brand)? Too much product? Missing the vibe?

Everyday Use Cases Worth Their Weight in Shiraz

  • Respond to reviews (even the nasty ones) with grace and professionalism.

  • Write accessible image descriptions for screen readers and web compliance.

  • Generate post captions from images when your brain’s gone walkabout.

  • Analyse Google Analytics data without learning spreadsheets.

  • Brief photographers with AI-generated shot lists.

  • Summarise meetings, plans, and chaos into to-do lists with Otter + ChatGPT.

ACTION STEP:

✅ Try uploading a transcript, long email, or blog draft and ask ChatGPT: “Summarise this into key actions for social media.” Game-changer.

Your Homework (Pick One. Just One.)

  1. Train a dedicated Chat for your business brand.

  2. Write your first connection triangle post — hero, vibe, and feel.

  3. Pick one “hangover task” from your list and hand it to AI. Whether it’s writing tasting notes, summarising an event, or drafting a team memo, test it on something you’ve been avoiding.

Bonus: Your Life Outside Work Deserves AI Too

Whether it’s creating a recipe book for your partner’s birthday or planning quality time with your kids (that doesn’t involve grocery shopping), the power of AI doesn’t stop at work. The real win is getting more brainspace back for the stuff that matters most.
