Case Study.
increase in revenue by social referral
conversion rate by social referral
increase in sessions by social referral
The Challenge
To build a solid social media presence for this online store selling computer accessories, coming up with creative and engaging content, and thumb-stopping ads that would drive high-quality traffic to the website, while also increasing the revenue generated through Facebook advertising.
In short – stronger branding presence + more people to the website + more sales!
The Social Media Solution
We were aware that the community who liked the Page were already customers of the store, so it was imperative that we focused on creating a unique blend of content to retain them.
The content for the Facebook page featured posts including:
- Helpful Tips for prolonging the life of the products
- Sharing of happy customer reviews, taken from Google and Facebook
- Short videos showcasing different imagery/angles of particular products
The Facebook advertising took some time to perfect, as we experimented with the audiences we were targeting, and their responsiveness to different ad creatives. As always, we recommended commencing with a smaller budget for the Facebook ads, and as we started seeing the positive return on investment, the budget was increased accordingly.
The Results
Digital Marketing AOK took over the Facebook content and advertising in September 2018, so comparing the Nov 2016 – August 2018 period, with the September 2018 – June 2020 period, we have seen:
A 319% increase in revenue through the online store from the Facebook Ads alone.
A conversion rate of 23%, which is impressive as the industry average in the technology space in Australia is just 2.31%, and the highest industry average is 14.29% in the fitness industry.
A 124.28% increase in sessions via social referral (visits to the website):
Nov 2016 – Aug 2018 vs Sept 2018 – June 2020
The power of the blend of social media content we created was highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic when many Australians were forced to work from home. The website experienced a 122.91% increase in revenue, mainly generated from the returning customers who make-up the majority of our Facebook Page followers.
