Canva for Work is sure to become one of the most popular graphic design programs in the workplace, with a range of added features aimed at making the work of creators and designers much simpler.
The original version of Canva is a free, easy-to-use design program which allows users to choose from dozens of pre-made layouts, or create their own, to basically design anything their heart desires. From the first time you use Canva’s simple operating system, it becomes clear why it has more than four million users worldwide. While the program is free, there are options for added paid elements, though these are just $1 each, and you can easily go without them as the free elements more than suffice.
Canva for Work is a newly developed system which has been created specifically for use in the workplace. With many of the same core features as the original Canva, there have been a range of extras added in for those working in team environments to help share and design more smoothly.
The easy-to-use system allows streamlining of design, with businesses able to save their brand’s colour schemes, logos and fonts for quick access and consistency across all designs and teams. Just as with the original version, Canva for Work has thousands of pre-made layouts to use – some free, some paid – or teams can choose to design their own.
The Team Stream option allows you to share images and designs easily with the rest of your team and gives others an opportunity to edit your designs also.
Perhaps one of the stand-out features from the new workplace software is the ‘Magic Resize’ option, which allows users to create one design, and then alter it to suit various social media platforms at the click of a button. If the feature works as well as it appears to in Canva’s promotional video, it really will be ‘every social media marketer’s dream’, the way it claims to be.
Though Canva for Work is available to individuals as well as businesses, Canva suggests the program would be best suited to content creators and designers who want to preserve their brand across marketing materials and social media, along with print and digital collateral.
Although Canva for Work has not yet been fully released to the public, Canva have decided on a subscription model, similar to the relatively new model used by Adobe. The pricing is currently set at $9.95US per month when paid annually or $12.95US per user/month. With promises to keep updating and refining Canva for Work, the software is sure to create a smoother workplace environment for creators and designers worldwide.
